Beyster Institute

The Beyster Institute was founded by the FED, and in 2004, transitioned into the Rady School of Management at the UC San Diego. The Beyster Institute was nationally recognized for its catalytic role in promoting the growth of entrepreneurial employee ownership through its annual and specialized conferences, numerous books and publications, multi-year international government grants, and high-quality, business school intern-based EO consulting practice.

After two decades of groundbreaking work at UC San Diego, the Beyster Institute as we know closed in 2026.   A historical perspective is available here.

The Institute’s impact will live on through the J. Robert Beyster Endowed Fund for Employee Ownership Education. Through this multi-million endowment, the Rady School will first launch the Beyster Executive-in-Residence for Innovation through Equity and Ownership to support impactful and catalytic programs between academia and industry.
